They protect quite well from the wind, although on colder days I still put thin cotton ones under them - they fit (after all, it's leather), although worn normally they lie almost like a glove. Almost, because in the place where you measure your hand to size they are just right, but a little closer to the wrist they could be tighter (it's not a matter of stretching, since new they were a little too loose here, even with Velcro fastening as tight as possible).
